THE ASYLUM UPSTAIRS
A collection of both heavy and hopeful cursive for whether you are searching for an escape or seeking a broader understanding of the beings around you. These poems were written to dig deep into the soul and cradle a beating heart with raw emotion. My book tackles the reality of mental illness and the healing and light behind pain. Dedicated to you and you alone because you matter, and you are important. Things do get easier, of that, I am certain.
PLACENTA
Amy has known mental illness since the age of 12 and uses poetry to convey the struggles that come with these complex disorders, featuring topics of anxiety, depression, love, time, trauma, and sanity. Placenta is a sequel to The Asylum Upstairs and presents an introspective relationship between narrative and reality, communicating how their life and experiences have changed as they have matured and grown. Healing is not linear, and this book shows just how much there is to say about pain – haunting, chaotic and with fragments of prose littered along the way; Placenta.
